Benny Tai: Occupy Central Will Not be “Fully Launched” on 1/July

Apple Daily 21Apr2014

Professor Benny Tai Yiu-ting, one of the convenors of Occupy Central, talked about democracy and ethnic minority’s rights in a discussion forum today. When asked about pan-democrats’ plan to launch “Public Occupy Central” on 1st July, Tai stressed that no one can monopolise Occupy Central, but he would liaise with the relevant groups to explore the collaboration possibilities. However, he is certain that Occupy Central in as a society-wide disobedient movement will not be launched on 1st July, 2014.

Tai said that after HKSAR Government completes the first round of political reform consultation in May, will organise three more Discussion Day events. He expected to host an electronic referendum in around June, but the follow up action depends on the NPPCC’s decision.

  1. Hi, good to read about HK news here. Just some suggestions on the layout, I didn’t notice that there are new entries until I scroll down. Perhaps it’s better to make the header image smaller, and remove that featured articles on top too because people don’t often scroll down to see the content. Thanks!

    • Thank you for stopping by.
We do want to find a better layout. Unfortunately, a lot of the good layouts are very expensive… We are stuck with this with our zero funding and limited human resources. However, once we can establish a way to get this done properly, we will surely make this more readers-friendly.
We understand that we make a lot of mistakes in our articles, but it is important for us to keep churning out articles, with close to none support and resources, sometimes we have to sacrifice quality…
Please share our articles with your friends, hopefully more and more people will know what is really going on in Hong Kong.

  2. You know it is the same with everything in life.
You’d think past showes us anything, but that’s so rare.
Hate all you want but the world changes rapidly, and none of us have no control whatsoever over it.
For instance, imagine Obama had any balls to put Putin to his place, but it seems like it’s never happening, welcome third world war.
    A truly inspiring post, thanks!

    • Thank you for visiting our blog.
It is true that the world seems to be run by a handful of individuals/governments, but as people we have to believe that we can make a difference.
