Charges Dropped Against Suspect of Attack at Public Memorial for Li Wangyang
Mr Chan who participated a public memorial service for Li Wangyang held in early June was attacked by four men with foldable stool (see left of above picture). One man, a manager of a beer company, was arrested as a suspect of the attack, who was charged with assault. After a number of hearings, the prosecutor today announced dropping all charges against the suspect after consulting legal advise. The defendant also awarded around US$4,000 legal cost.
Kwan Chi-ngong (age 39), an employee of the Chairman of Hong Kong Youth Care Association (Limited), was charged for attacking the victim of the incident happened in Shan Tung Street on 6th June. According to source, the prosecutor to drop all charges against Kwan because the victim could not identify Kwan as the attacker.
